I finally started on a long pending home project --> clean my Garage (home to all the junk in my house). I was amazed to find so many different travel chargers, car chargers and data sync cables for various cell phones, blue tooth headsets, MP3 players, GPS, etc. I realized that I have been buying these very high-margin accessories for every device because of the incompatibility problem from device to device. My old cell phones are long gone but all these cables remain in my Garage. I am sure you can all relate to this major hassle.
The Manageability Idea program (contest) is open to all Intel Software Network visitors. Weekly prizes will be awards with the grand prize being a new desktop PC with Intel vPro technology.
I have been looking at Asian characters all week and I can't understand any of it! During the last two weeks, a few fellow co-workers in the Intel China site have internationalized the Intel AMT DTK to Simplified Chinese. I only worked a very little before on internationalizing .NET applications and this was certainly the first time I had one of my software internationalized to simplified Chinese.
Over the years I have helped many people (my parents, in-laws, aunt, sister, friends, etc.) buy PCs. They really believe that I am an expert -- my only credentials being -- I work for Intel Corp. I tried telling them that I work for Intel, but I am not really an expert with everything that goes inside a PC, but "oh well" they don't really like the answer. About eight months ago, I helped my friend's mom purchase a computer ... And, as always my involvement did not end with the purchase ..
WS-Management is gaining momentum and is not the future anymore, it is the present. Microsoft, one of the main vendors behind the WS-Management standard already supports WS-Management in 2 major OS releases: Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Vista, which was released early this year. Intel will follow with the first desktop platform supporting WS-Management this summer. This is just a taste of things to come.
When I heard about WS-MAN .. I thought why not WS-WOMAN .. well let us stick with the name WS-MAN as it is a industry standard and learn more about it :)
I get lots of questions on how to build an Intel AMT terminal and for good raisons. One of the most important issues is around terminal emulation. How exactly are characters coming from the serial port shown on the terminal display? Having built my own terminal in the Intel AMT DTK, I run into many issues or internalization and usability. As a result, I recommend that software vendors that can do so build two terminal emulation modes in their terminals.
