Hi,
when profiling my binary with statistical callstack, a lot of runtime is executed
in "unknown(s)". It seems, that all callstacks contain at least one entry with labeld
with unknown(s) and these are those that make up most of the runtime.
At the moment, I have no idea, where these entries come from, I checked the
pdf files, they seem to be correct.
What could be the reason for this?
I'm using PTU 4.0 update 3 for win64 and my executable is also 64 bit

Hi,
Currently the best way to get low overhead and stable statisticall callgraph analysis is to install one of latest updates of Intel Amplifier or Intel VTune Amplifier XE. PTUincludes a prototype ofstatistical callgraphfeature that is unsupported starting with the middle of 2007. New Intel profilers including this feature are real products with appropriate level of support. Both collection and viewer parts were greatly improved there. Lots of really exciting capabilities were added.

P.S. Ifpdb fileslocation was changed after build PTU is able to find them only in the same directory with appropriate binaries. This limitation does not longer exist in new profilers.
