Recompile on Update?

Recompile on Update?

Imagen de Community Admin

Hi there,

My group is currently using Digital Fortran v6.2 and is considering going to 6.6 to get the .COM creation ability. We're a little apprehensive about this move, though. When we upgraded from 6.0 to 6.2, we found that we had to recompile all of the Fortran DLLs in our project - not just the ones that needed work. Is this because the DFORRT and DFORMD DLLs are not downwardly compatible? Will we have the same experience going to 6.6?

Thanks in advance,
Robin Olson

You shouldn't have to recompile, but it is a good idea if it doesn't cause a problem for you. The DLLs are upwards compatible - you should be able to use a newer run-time DLL than the one you built against.

By the way, we didn't have a 6.2. 6.0, 6.1, 6.5 and 6.6 are the 6.x versions.
