A J2SE Application Enhances and Classifies Map Data

by Wei Kee Law

Introduction

Classification is the process of assigning classes to the pixels in a remotely sensed image. For example, in an agricultural map, each pixel could be assigned one of the classes wheat, rye, barley, or fallow. The illustration in Figure 1 shows a picture captured by geographical satellites. The classification process yields the picture in Figure 2, in which water, highland regions, vegetation, and forest are classified and indicated with different colors.

  • Copying Accelerated Video Decode Frame Buffers

Conventional memory copying methods can yield very poor performance when data is in "uncacheable" memory, as when video decode is being done with hardware acceleration. This paper explains useful data copy optimizations for video decode operations.
