Service Oriented Enterprise: An Architect's View
This presentation introduces some of the emergent technologies and architecture such as SOA, Grid, and Virtualization under the umbrella of Service Oriented Enterprise (SOE). Topics covered include the Service Oriented Enterprise Framework and its components: SOA, SOM, SOI. Learn how technology innovations developed by Intel and its industry partners can provide a model for deployment of the SOE Enterprise. (60MB)
Large Enterprises face a constant challenge in balancing technology costs with new business goals. Many enterprises have existing business processes bound up in applications that communicate using ‘legacy’ protocols such as FTP and MQ, which were really designed for behind the firewall operation in a trusted network. Given these constraints what’s the best way for a large Enterprise to extend these applications to external customers and partners without relying on an expensive re-engineering effort or concentrating risk in a single vendor?
In average programmers write only 10 lines of code per day and that includes copy-pasting from the Internet. Sure, every system can be designed using just four blocks and every programmer can write over 1000 lines of code every day. What's stopping us from working so fast are the bugs.
These past few weeks I have been busy to the extreme. Some good events and some are less happy events. The most important of which is having our first baby boy. You can really test your time management skills when you have no time... A wise man once told me that there is always time: 24 hours per day. Having enough time depends of what you plan to do with it. People can't work 24 hours a day. There is something else other than time, things like concentration, focus, commitment... These depend on how interesting is your job and what else would you like to do.
