Hi everybody,

Subject is: Laptop SODIMM memory with 9-9-9-24 latency vs. 10-10-10-27 latency ( Non-ECC ).

I'm considering to buy a laptop SODIMM memory ( 8GB x 2 ) and my questions are:

- Which one is better in terms of performance ( latency )?
- What else has to be taken into account when selecting a laptop SODIMM memory?

Thanks in advance.

I finally found some technical information I needed for Intel Core i7-3840QM ( Ivy Bridge / 4 cores / 8 logical processors )( http://ark.intel.com/compare/70846 )

in

2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Processor Family Mobile and Intel® Celeron® Processor Family Mobile Datasheet, Volume 1

chapter:

2.1.1 System Memory Technology Supported

Table 2-2 DDR3 System Memory Timing Support

( pages 21 and 22 ).

Note:The title of the document is not updated because Intel Core i7-3840QM is the 3rd Generation CPU.

Read this link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SDRAM_latency#Measurements

Do you think that one cycle more or less will be significant for you.

Hi!

This link has basic info about the memory measurement :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SDRAM_latency#Measurements

Do you have special needs for low latency memory?

Yes because I'd like to have the same type of SODIMM memory in all four memory slots, that is, 1600 MHz and the same timings.

By writing "needs" I mean any kind of software which will benefit from the low latency memory.

I see what you mean and these are Linear Algebra algorithms ( processing of very large matrices ). Thanks for your time and let's close discussion on that subject.
