There is definitely a need to re-launch activities here, at the Business Forum. I guess there is a topic that can be interesting to every member of business community - Business Partnership relations.
Even though one can find dozens of different types of Partnership relation in IT sector, I believe only two types can be clearly distinguished. Based on the experience of my company and on the industry common practice there are two main types of Partnership relations - value chain partnership and channel partnership.
Value Chain Partners are value-driven organizations, the main objective of which is to enhance the added value they bring to their current and new Customers. This type of Partnership provides products or services in the complementing industries within the IT or related sectors and can be considered as a part of the extended software development life cycle.
Instead, Channel Partners are considered as a revenue-driven persons or organizations, willing to distribute your company's products or services, or introduce new Customers either by searching and providing corresponding leads or by involving company into the existing projects. Quality lead generation is the main objective of this type of Partnership, and Partners act as intermediaries or the facilitators of transactions.
What do you think about this classification? Is it too general? Maybe it is not relevant for some IT sectors? Will be glad to discuss it here.
