After a full week of testing/documentation, I'm finally finished with IT Helper 1.0! I shouldn't say finally; it's been only 4 weeks since I introduced the project. I started out knowing nothing about Intel AMT (or even C#!) and managed to teach myself everything I needed to know to develop a working management console. More importantly, I used only the resources provided through the Manageability Developer Community. So there's no excuse! If I can do it, anyone can. Now go develop your own management console! Just kidding...
Today is the big day for my two co-authors and myself. We received the first early shipment of our book "Active Platform Management Demystified", a technical book about Intel® AMT. Writing a book is a lot of effort and I now know first hand just how much. In this video recorded earlier today, we shot the very first opening of a case of books. More on the book in later blogs, but for now, I wanted to share this moment with the community.
This week's post is just a quick update on the status of my management console, IT Helper 1.0. I got a lot done last week and I should be finished by the end of this week. I've still got some Agent Presence and SOL features to work on, but everything else is just about done.

Hardware Asset tab.
The AssetDisplay sample is probably the most confusing sample in the SDK. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out how it worked. It took me awhile to realize that the sample dealt with the XML data directly instead of using the classes included in the SDK. Wait a minute...isn't that the purpose of the SDK?
It's been just three weeks since my first blog post and I've already learned a lot. Using the blogs, forums, and web-based training, I've been able to learn the major concepts and start developing applications for Intel AMT. Last week, I talked about IT Helper 1.0, the management console that I'll be developing over the next few weeks.
Before I started "Working with Intel AMT," the first thing I wanted to learn was how to turn a computer on and off. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, not really.
