uninstalling parallel_studio

Hello all. I need some help with uninstalling parallel_studio_xe_2013_update3 non-commercial edition on Debian, if possible, please.  First  installation was incorrect and i tried to uninstall it.  There was no file uninstall.sh. The folder /Intel was deleted. Now there are no packages containing "intel" in the system. This is clear when using programs like 'aptitude' because rpm does not work on Debian. And it is impossible to install the studio again. The installer - install.sh - prints 'first uninstall the current version'. Please help install the studio. Thanks.

VTune Amplifier error

I am a first user to Vtune Amplifier and I have limited knowledge on it.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 64bit and Intel Parallel Studio XE 2013.

I can see the messages on the terminal like below when I run amplxe-gui.

** (amplxe-gui:28202): CRITICAL **: os_bar_hide: assertion `OS_IS_BAR (bar)' failed

(amplxe-gui:28202): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_hide: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

** (amplxe-gui:28202): CRITICAL **: os_bar_set_parent: assertion `OS_IS_BAR (bar)' failed

Unable to use CUDA nvcc compiler with ICC 13.x

Hi All,

I've just upgraded 2011 XE to 2013 XE (update 3), one of my projects that intel compiler from 2011 XE package was able to assemble flawlessly fails to compile with ICC 13.x.

An error occurs on the nvcc compilation stage (compiling .cu file with CUDA kernel): nvcc : fatal error : A single input file is required for a non-link phase when an outputfile is specified.

Once again, both MSVC and 2011 XE do compile the project without errors. How to make 13.x do the same thing ?

Thanks in advance.

Support Status Expired and Version Installed

Hi,

I require Intel Visual Fortran v11.1 to compile my user material code in ANSYS 13. I was being able to do this without any problem before. Also, I use Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.

However, now when I run ANSYS using the compiled user material code I have Fortran run-time errors. I logged into Intel and saw that my Support Status had expired.

My questions:

1. Do I have to renew my Intel Visial Fortran License?

2. How can I find what version of Intel Visual Fortran is installed on my computer.

MPSS for Linux (Phi code generation)

According to the documentation, MPSS is only available for SUSE 11.6. I am running SUSE 12.3, and the source for MPSS does not compile on 12.3, except if a few changes are made to the source. I was wondering if anyone has successfully done the port of MPSS to 12.3. Alternately, I would be willing to do this port, but I don't have access to a Xeon Phi, so I would need access to one prior to doing this port. I would make this port freely available. On a related note, how is Intel validating MPSS, do they have a test suite, and if so, where can I find it?

Installing Parallel Studo vs the components

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to installing the Parallel Studio vs just the components?  I'm installing on a new computer and wondering.  I will have VS2008 as my integrator.

Formerly, on my old computer, I had just the Fortran Composer and when it came to upgrade to the Parallel Studio, I think there were problems in installing the full package.  Plus, the pieces get updated periodically over the support period whereas the Parallel Studio might not.

Thanks.

Problem with MPD call

Hi,

I have a corrupted MPD on my machine. Whenever I call any of the commands "mpdtrace" or "mpdallexit" I get the following message:

mpdroot: cannot connect to local mpd at: /tmp/mpd2.console_root
probable cause: no mpd daemon on this machine
possible cause: unix socket /tmp/mpd2.console_root has been removed
mpdtrace (__init__ 1524): forked process failed; status=255

I have my mpd running:

mpd&
ps -ef | grep mpd
