The Projects tab of Intel® XDK NEW (Intel XDK) lists those projects the Intel XDK NEW is aware of on your development system.
The currently active project is highlighted (as shown above) with some general information about the active project such as creation date, date last modified, creation method and the path on your system where the project is located. From this screen you may also mail a test version of your application to other individuals or delete the project from the Intel XDK NEW projects list.
NOTE: Deleting the project from from the project list does NOT delete the project files or directory from your system.
The active (or selected) project is the project upon which all other tabs will perform their operations. Tasks you can perform directly from the Projects tab include: changing the active project, creating a new project or opening an Intel XDK project that was previously deleted from the projects list or copied from another system.
Change the Active Project
To change the active project simply click on the name of the project you want to become your active project. The new project is highlighted and the project information is updated. All other tabs will also now be associated with the new project.
Start a New Project
Click on the Start a New Project button at the bottom of the projects list to create a new project.
You will be presented with the New Project Setup screen. On this setup screen you can choose how you want to start your new project by selecting an option from the START NEW APP list. You will be asked to provide a name for the project as well a location on your system where the project folder (or directory) will be created. The specified project name will become the folder name used to contain the project.
After filling in all the fields, select the CREATE button. This project will also become your active project.
NOTE FOR USING IMPORT PROJECT OPTION: Your project must contain an index.html file in the root level project directory. If you are importing a project from a previous version of the Intel® XDK be sure to select the 3.4.0/4.0.0 directory as your import location so that the proper directory structure exists for use in Intel XDK NEW.
Open a Project
To restore a previously deleted Intel XDK NEW project file or an Intel XDK NEW project copied from another system, select the Open A Project button at the bottom of the projects list.
Navigate to the location of the *.xdk file within the project you wish to open/restore. When you open the file, the project will be added to the projects list and become your active project.
