Get to Know MeeGo*

MeeGo is an exciting new mobile OS for not only smart phones and netbooks, but also for tablets, connected TV’s and in vehicle infotainment systems. Unique to MeeGo is that it has a common core and APIs across multiple mobile device platforms, it is supported by both Intel® Atom™ processor and ARMv7* architectures, and has broad ecosystem adoption. Check out the introduction to the MeeGo Project by Ibrahim Haddad, Ph.D. here: http://wiki.meego.com/images/MeeGo_Introduction.pdf On February 14th 2011 the Intel AppUp developer program expanded to support MeeGo applications for tablets and netbooks. Now, developers can submit MeeGo apps into the program and have access to great MeeGo app resources, tools and incentives. The AppUp® SDK Suite for MeeGo is available for download. It provides developers with tools and support to publish MeeGo apps in the Intel AppUp center. Also, the Intel AppUp developer program is hosting worldwide application labs to provide hands on training for MeeGo development. This includes distribution of over 5000 MeeGo-based tablet software development platforms for early adopters to jumpstart application development for tablets. Additionally there are multiple opportunities for developer support, recognition and rewards for MeeGo applications including Intel AppUp developer program Accelerator and the “submit early program” for MeeGo. According to the MeeGo Wiki all devices must use the core software stack, including the MeeGo OS base layer and the middleware layer. MeeGo compliance for applications will verify that an application's external dependencies are satisfied by a MeeGo compliant device. Refer to the wiki here http://wiki.meego.com/Quality/Compliance for full details. Get Started! Intel is encouraging developers to get started learning the MeeGo architecture today.
