Will there be/is there an update of MKL to provide
better performance for Prescott (P4E) i.e.
comparable to the performance of MKL 6.0/7.0beta for Northwood?

MKL 6.1.1 has a number of key routines optimized for the Prescott processor and is in the release process right now and will be available soon. The Linux version will be available in about one week and the Windows version in less than 3 weeks.
The performance on operations like dgemm on Prescott is nearly as good as dgemm with 6.1 on Northwood.
