Dirk Hohndel gives Intel keynote at OSCON 2009

I just heard Dirk Hohndel give the OSCON 2009 Intel keynote for Imad Sousou. Dirk
is the chief open source technologist at Intel and this is the third year he has stepped in for Imad at the last minute at OSCON. Here are some notes I took from the Dirk's talk:

Intel has gone from being a skeptic to being a major contributor to open source.

To show how this works, take the Netbook. It started out originally as a Linux product. Now there are products available from Windows, Linux and newly announced ChromeOS. It's a hot category.

Internal Compiler Errror for Molpro file geminal.f on Intel® 64 processor using the Intel® Fortran Compiler, 11.0

The Intel® Fortran Compiler for Linux* Professional Edition, Version 11.0 will fail with an Internal Compiler Error when compiling the file geminal.f from the Molpro* application with the options -O3 and -i8 on an Intel® 64 processor.

    1000 Universities in the Intel Academic Community

    I've been working on this story for a few weeks, waiting and wondering who would be the 1000th university to join the Intel Academic Community.

    Now that we've reached that milestone, I've asked those who have been closely involved in the program to blog about specific things going in on in their regions of the world.  This is truly a global program, reaching to 72 countries worldwide.  So, stay tuned over the next few days to hear more.

    Последние две недели проходят под знаком постоянного обновления протокола ICQ, приводящего к отключению от сети т.н. альтернативных клиентов. На самом деле, их правильнее называть "безальтернативными", потому что аутентичные "аськи" насколько примитивны, настолько и неудобны. Даже голенькая Miranda на раз забарывает ICQ 6.5, а что говорить про монстров, вроде QIP? И ведь, что характерно, над ICQ работает гигант AOL с бригадой высокооплачиваемых программистов, тогда как QIP делает 2 (два) человека, и чуть ли не за еду "спасибо".
