Following http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/igpa-getting-started-guide-for-..., I can run "Analyze Application..." and "System Analyzer" fine but "System Analyzer" does not allow me to save a trace capture file nor frame capture file (the buttons appear grayed out). Is this a known limitation of working with Windows Store 8 apps, or is something wrong with my setup?
I've been using Intel GPA for at least a year now. Am partially happy with it, thus is this topic with some suggestions.
1. GPA should be able to run two instances - it would be tremendously more easy to compare/diff stuff, for example tracking a bug
2. Shown state problems (my main problem actually)
2.1. Texture vs sampler ordering. Which texture is bound to which sampler? Very confusing!
2.2. Texture alpha, render target alpha, native depth. Even better a toggleable mask with the RGBA channels
I have an application that can use deferred contexts but when deferred context are enabled I cannot capture GPU using GPA.
my app crashes when calling :
is there something I can do in order to have deferred context working with GPU capture in GPA?
I downloaded and ran GPA's Analyze Application option and it works every time for the sample app. On the first try, I was able to get it to work for Windows Store apps as well. However, now when I run it on any Windows Store app, it always fails with: "Intel GPA Monitor failed to launch the application: Failed to launch Windows 8 Store application" I didn't change my system at all in between the success and failures. Tried restarting, etc. but no change. What could be going on? Is the Windows 8 Store monitoring known to be buggy?
I'm not 100% sure this is the correct place to post a bug report, but the crash tool said to submit the bug report at http://www.intel.com/software/gpa and there was no obvious bug reporting link there, so I'm posting it here.
I wanted to try and use the GPA tools to try and improve the perfromance of an indie game I'm working on with my levovo laptop, but when I go to launch the Intel GPA Frame Analyzer tool, it crashes while opening the tool.
I am having trouble viewing traces generated by GPA. Everything was working perfectly yesterday, so I assume something has happened in my configuration, or code base that has stopped it working.
Basically, I am running the application using the Analyse application dialog. I get into the menu, then use Ctrl-Shift-T to trigger a dump of the trace.
The trace file says it writes successfully, and successfully opens in the Platform analyser. But none of the tasks that my code has marked up are visible. Only draw calls and presents are visible.
I heard that GPA supports Atom-based andorid phones from version 2012 R4.
Regarding this, I have some questions:
- Have anybody used GPA with Android phones?
- If you have so, what is the phone model you tried?
- Can I use GPA with motorola razr i (which may be the only Atom-based phone that I can get now)?
I have installed Windows 8 and GPA 2012 R5 and the "Auto-detect launched applications" and "Launch Intel GPA monitor on startup" options do not work anymore
I launch my program from Visual Studio and so the "Auto-detect launched applications" option is very useful so that I don't have to attach to program each time I want to debug both with Visual Studio and GPA. Between the two problems, this is the most annoying.
I have another topic open, but I am running into a completely different issue so I am starting a new topic.
I am installing GPA on my development PC (Windows 7 64 bit, MS security essentials as virus scanner) and am running a few issues that I think are related. I am running with CUA turned on.
Is there a particular reason why the Intel GPA tool doesn't work on a system with Windows 7 Starter as the OS?
