Developing software is like creating any other product —there are always hidden costs and unexpected delays. We can’t help with the unexpected delays, except to offer the advice: pad your timeline and then pad it again. But we can help ease the cost of development with free tools for developers.

We’ve rounded up three of the many free tools from Intel available to software developers.

SDKs

Intel has a range of software development kits for most anyone. If you’re interested in building an app for the Intel AppUp® center, have a look at the Intel AppUp® Developer SDK. It provides APIs for applications sold in the Intel AppUp® center. These APIs include multiple device digital rights management, crash reporting, instrumentation, and in-app purchase capabilities.

Intel® Perceptual Computing will be releasing its 2013 SDK shortly. Download the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK and you’ll soon be on the fast path to creating the next generation of immersive, engaging, innovative software applications that incorporate close-range tracking, speech recognition, face analysis, and 2-D/3-D object tracking on Intel® Core™ processor-powered Ultrabook™ devices and PCs.

30-day Software Evaluation

Register for Intel® Premier Support to gain access to free 30-day evaluation versions of Intel® Software Development Products. You can get free support during the evaluation period by creating an Intel Premier Support account after requesting the evaluation license or visit Intel® Developer Zone Forums for more information.

Assistance on Selling Your Software

Not only does Intel provide you with free tools to help make your software great, the Intel AppUp center is an additional avenue to make some money from your apps. Have a look at the Intel AppUp Developers Sell Page for more information on creating and porting software for the Intel AppUp center and ways to help improve sales.

The Intel® Developer Zone is a great place to get started with free software development tools from Intel. Subscribe to Intel® Software Adrenaline for news on free tools as they become available.
