AeL eContent has a consistent structure - text, assessments and interactive animations, as well as presentation movies have a well-established place on the screen in each learning object, according to psychologists' recommendations. Information and icon objects are also well positioned, for ease of access and redundancy avoidance.
AeL digital content is organized in reusable learning objects (RLOs) that are structured in learning content packages. The main idea of 'learning objects' is to break educational content down into small chunks that can be reused in various standard-compliant learning environments. The learning objects includes multiple forms of media e.g. text, graphics, audio, video and animations.
AeL eContent follows universal principles, standard methodological and pedagogical approach and latest technology:
· Learning objects are smaller units of learning, typically ranging from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.
· Are self-contained - each learning object can be used independently.
· Are reusable - a single learning object may be used in multiple contexts for multiple purposes.
· Can be aggregated - learning objects can be grouped into larger collections of content, including traditional course structures.
· Are tagged with metadata - every learning object has descriptive information allowing it to be easily found by a search.
· Are produced for multicultural use having a double conceptual structure adapted to that aim, with a neutral point of view regarding the different cultures traditions (easy insertion in any cultural environments).
Technical and Software Requirements
Technical design implies compliance with both the guidelines provided by pedagogical designing and the recommendations, standards, norms, and conventions that are specific to computer designing (acquired by extensive psychological research), regarding ergonomics or functionality.

The AeL eContent lessons' interface is user friendly and easy to use. The application guides students through the lessons, so they don't need to be computer savvy to browse the AeL eContent. They simply need to follow the given instructions.
