AeL modules
1. Virtual library. Asynchronous learning
The system includes an electronic library - a true information database capable of storing and organising large amounts of information and training materials. The database is adaptable, configurable and is periodically indexed to provide quick access at all times, via search functionalities.
The library provides users with:
- controlled access to educational materials;
- capability to search large volumes of information with text and multimedia content;
- content creation and editing interfaces;
- capabilities to import and export educational content: PowerPoint, Word, HTML, PDF, RTF; photos or videos; directories of resources (even as archives); formats based on standards such as SCORM 2004 and IMS QTI;
- course content organisation features;
- possibility to create own lessons with standard content components.
2. Virtual Class. Synchronous learning
The Virtual Class provides support for trainer based sessions, enabling him to:
- control the educational content transfer to trainees;
- control the trainees' level of interaction with the application;
- give and monitor tests;
- communicate with participants in discussion forums;
- supervise trainees' activity, monitoring, in real time, work screens and on-line reports;
- adapt the course according to each trainee's pace and progress;
- obtain complex reports regarding the training process.
3. Testing
AeL eTraining solution offers support for automatic creation of evaluation tests and evaluation assistance, with options like:
- testing method: fixed or random;
- revision method: with or without revision of already studied issues;
- duration: with or without time limit;
- various question types;
- description;
- study subjects and objectives;
- keywords;
Tests and questions can be based on several predefined models, including:
- single choice/multiple choice/open answers;
- true/false answers;
- matching questions;
- evaluation options;
- elements association;
Trainers have the possibility to set the rating methods, by selecting configuration algorithms. They can also set the passing grade and test results presentation method.
4. Administration
This module is accessible for the system administrators and provides management of:
- Security - access, roles and groups administration;
- Organisation - management of components, study levels, subjects;
- Settings - preferences at individual user or group level;
- Reports about online/connected users and connections history.
The system can only be accessed by using a unique username/password combination. The credentials can be managed within AeL or using an external identity repository, like Active Directory.
The AeL security application administration is a simple process, modelling the rights/roles per users or groups of users.
Being a web-based application, AeL eTraining solution allows access to all the available data, regardless the size of the company or geographic spread.
5. Organisation administration
Using the organisation administration module, users can manage and monitor information about:
- organisation structure (by study levels or groups);
- courses and scheduling;
- trainers and trainees;
- statistics related to the training process, and to the administrative process, facilitating the optimal human resources management.
6. Collaborative applications module
The video-audio conference feature brings trainees from different regions or branches "face-to-face" with their trainer, being an efficient support for employees who take distance classes.
In addition to the audio-video conference, the AeL Collaboration Suite offers:
- Instant messaging(chat) - for real-time text-based communication between users;
- Application sharing- real-time presentation of an application running on one of the participants' computer (trainer or trainee) to other participants, with the option to transfer the control;
- Whiteboard - allows working on common projects - schemas, drawings or complex diagrams. All the changes done on the whiteboard are transmitted in real-time to all the participants in the session.
The AeL Collaboration Suite allows recording the entire work session and replaying it at a later time.
