Hide and expose the side command tool bar with Intel® Advisor XE 2013 Update 4

Intel® Advisor XE 2013 Update 4 which was released in late July, 2013 and which is now available as part of the Intel® Parallel Studio XE 2013 SP1 packages has a cool new feature to help you optimize your screen real estate. This involves hiding and exposing the side command toolbar.

  • Please note that this can only be done in result tabs (once the analysis data is collected and results are generated).
  • This can be done from within both the Standalone Intel Advisor XE GUI as well as from within the Microsoft* Visual Studio integrated version of Intel Advisor XE

Here is a screenshot of the Intel Advisor XE 2013 Standalone GUI with Survey results tab before hiding the command toolbar. As you can see, the command toolbar consumes a sizeable portion of the onscreen real estate that can be better utilized to view more columns and data in the Survey result tab itself.

Clicking on the ">>" button (seein highlighted in the screen above) will now collapse the command tool bar as show in the screenshot below:

As you can see, more of the results screen real estate in the Survey Report tab can be seen now. If you wish to restore the command tool bar, simply click on the "<<" again.

NOTE: The "<<" and ">>" buttons to hide/unhide the command toolbar are only available once the results are generated.
