The Intel® RealSense™ SDK has been discontinued. No ongoing support or updates will be available.
What if you came home, and your Home PC detects and welcomes you , quite smartly. This is reality today thanks to Intel RealSense enabled software solution.
Imagine this: Your child comes home from school, and you get a notification on your office laptop.
Imagine this: Your grandma peeps in into the Family Digital PhotoFrame, and you get notified.
Here is a real life snap of how RealSense is assisting elders today at homes. Video below
Activity and users presence are detected at homes and conference rooms, feeding intelligence into a smart room.
In the above video, you saw how Wall mounted PhotoFrame can detect and automatically welcome them. Do you want to build this feature into your app? Here is the algorithm design.
You can implement algorithm to detect user presence by Intel Perceptual Computing SDK and a standard webcam. Start with a simple state machine and face tracking feature of the SDK to implement presence detection feature. When the state transitions from Empty Room --> Face continuously detected for 4 seconds, it triggers a activity.
Intel's compilers may or may not optimize to the same degree for non-Intel microprocessors for optimizations that are not unique to Intel microprocessors. These optimizations include SSE2, SSE3, and SSSE3 instruction sets and other optimizations. Intel does not guarantee the availability, functionality, or effectiveness of any optimization on microprocessors not manufactured by Intel. Microprocessor-dependent optimizations in this product are intended for use with Intel microprocessors. Certain optimizations not specific to Intel microarchitecture are reserved for Intel microprocessors. Please refer to the applicable product User and Reference Guides for more information regarding the specific instruction sets covered by this notice.
