Troubleshooting

This topic covers troubleshooting for the cache configurator.
Problem
Possible Cause / Solution
Hypervisor detected
Cause: A hypervisor or real-time configuration manager (RTCM) is enabled on the target system.
Solution: Reboot the system without the hypervisor. Disable RTCM per the instructions in Real-Time Configuration Manager (RTCM).
tcc_buffer driver is not loaded
Cause: The real-time configuration driver (
tcc_buffer
) is not loaded on the target system.
Solution: Load the driver per the instructions in Real-Time Configuration Driver.
Cache configurator capsule_apply_command or efibootmgr fails with the error: “No space left on device”
Cause: EFI NVRAM contains too many error logs.
Solution: Delete the logs:
  1. Boot into the EFI shell.
  2. Run the following command to delete EFI-variable with log:
    dmpstore -d -guid 0abba7dc-e516-4167-bbf5-4d9d1c739416
RTCT version <version> is not supported
Cause: BIOS reported that RTCT (real-time configuration table) version is not supported by cache configurator.
Solution: Flash a BIOS supported by Intel® TCC Tools or contact your BIOS vendor.
RTCD version <version> is not supported
Cause: BIOS reported that RTCD (real-time configuration data) version is not supported by cache configurator.
Solution: Flash a BIOS supported by Intel® TCC Tools or contact your BIOS vendor.
The configuration could not be applied as requested. The software SRAM buffers you requested are missing.
Cause: The Software SRAM option is disabled.
Solution: Set the Software SRAM option to enabled to configure and use the software SRAM buffers. For more information, see Software SRAM Setting.
The configuration could not be applied as requested. You wanted to delete all software SRAM buffers, but the default 1 x L3 software SRAM buffer (1 cache way) was applied.
Cause: The Software SRAM option is enabled.
Solution: Set the Software SRAM option to disabled if you do not need any software SRAM buffers in the system. For more information, see Software SRAM Setting.
The configuration could not be applied as requested. You wanted to add L2 software SRAM buffers, buffers were added, but the cache configurator reports an error.
Cause: For systems running the PR1 release of the Yocto Project*-based BSP for Intel Atom® x6000E Series processors, some L2 COS masks could not be applied. This issue does not affect performance and can be ignored.
