In the VTune™ Amplifier window, click the configure analysis icon to start a new analysis.
Specify a remote Linux target system using SSH.
Enter the remote target system's user name and host name or IP address.
VTune™ Amplifier attempts to connect to the remote system using this user's credentials and reports that it cannot connect.
It recommends configuring SSH in password-less mode for this connection.
In a CygWin terminal, create a .ssh sub-directory in the user's home directory.
Run ssh-keygen to generate an rsa public / private key pair.
Run ssh-copy-id to copy the public key to the user's authorized keys file on the remote system and enter the user's password when prompted.
Verify the private public key pair configuration by running ssh with a command like ls to confirm the password is no longer required.
Now that the public and private key pair is configured for this user, click the retry button to ensure VTune™ Amplifier can connect to the remote system.
Root access to the remote system may be required for some workloads.
To enable root access, start by changing the user name to root.
VTune™ Amplifier reports that it cannot connect to the remote system using root credentials and recommends configuring SSH in password-less mode for that user.
In a CygWin terminal, run ssh with the user's credentials to connect to the remote system and run sudo su to enter root mode.
In root mode, create the /root/.ssh directory and append the user's authorized keys file to the /root/.ssh authorized keys file.
Click the VTune™ Amplifier retry button to ensure it can connect to the remote system with root credentials by using the private public key pair.
SSH in password-less mode is now configured for both user and root access to the remote target system and you are ready to profile your workload.
