In the VTune Amplifier window, click the configure analysis icon to start a new analysis.
Specify a remote Linux target system using SSH.
Enter the remote target system's user name and host name or IP address.
VTune Amplifier attempts to connect to the remote system using this user's credentials and reports that it cannot connect.
It recommends configuring SSH in password-less mode for this connection.
Run PuTTY Key Generator to generate an SSH-2 RSA public / private key pair.
Click the save private key button to save the private key.
Copy the public key from the edit text box to a text editor and save it.
Run PuTTY Configuration to create a session record for the remote host.
In the configuration, navigate to Connection, SSH, Authentication, Private Key to specify our private key.
Save the configuration using the remote host's IP address as the session name.
Run PLink to create a .ssh sub-directory in the user's home directory on the remote system and set its access permissions, entering the user's password when prompted.
Run PLink to copy the public key to the authorized keys file in the user's home .ssh directory on the remote system and set its access permissions, entering the user's password when prompted.
Verify the public / private key pair configuration by running plink with a command like ls to confirm the password is no longer required.
Now that the public and private key pair is configured for this user, click the retry button to ensure VTune Amplifier can connect to the remote system.
Root access to the remote system may be required for some workloads.
To enable root access, start by changing the user name to root.
VTune Amplifier reports that it cannot connect to the remote system using root credentials and recommends configuring SSH in password-less mode for that user.
In a command terminal, run plink with the user's credentials to connect to the remote system and run sudo su to enter root mode. In root mode, create the /root/.ssh directory and append the user's authorized keys file to the /root/.ssh authorized keys file.
Click the VTune Amplifier retry button to ensure it can connect to the remote system with root credentials by using the private public key pair.
SSH in password-less mode is now configured for both user and root access to the remote target system and you are ready to profile your workload.
