Unleash Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions 512 Inside the Open Shading Language

Overview

Intel joined forces with Pixar Animation Studios* and Sony Pictures Imageworks* to realize a dynamic Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) code generation of open shading language (OSL) shader networks and an expanse of SIMD optimized OSL library functions. Discover our new “wide” batch OSL interface that handles LLVM vector types, masks control flow, and creates library functions (achieving three to nine times the speed up with Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions 512) using compiler driven SIMD optimization (no intrinsics) with OpenMP*.
