Heavy lifting is best handled with the legs. Or better yet, someone else’s legs. Regardless of who’s doing the work, lifting-related back injuries cost US companies a staggering $70bn USD in 20131. KINETIC, a smart wearables startup based in New York City, found a way to use Intel® Edison Compute Modules to create devices that can significantly reduce these costly workplace injuries.

    Can I redistribute libraries included with Intel® Parallel Studio XE 2016 with my application?

    Yes. When you agree to the EULA for Intel® Parallel Studio XE you receive rights to redistribute portions of Intel® MKL, IPP, TBB and DAAL libraries with your application. However, the evaluation versions of Intel® Software Development products do not include redistribution rights.

    i tried to use an OpenMP reduction loop in a Fortran program. Unfortunately, the program crashes quite often, but not always. The loop looks as follows:

    $!OMP PARALLEL DO default(none)
          DO IJ = 1,INOD
            CurrIsWet= (HO(IJ).GT.hmin)
            ISWETNODE(IJ) =  merge(ISWETNODE_WET,0,CurrIsWet)
            if (CurrIsWet) NWETNODE=NWETNODE+1
          END DO    

    INOD ist a fixed number greater than zero, ISWETNODE_WET is a parameter.

    The Intel® Threading Building Blocks (Intel® TBB) library provides a set of algorithms that enables parallelism in C++ applications. Since Intel TBB 4.0, unstructured parallelism, dependency graphs and data flow algorithms can be expressed with flow graph classes and functions. The flow graph makes Intel TBB useful for cases that are not covered by its generic parallel algorithms, while keeping users away from lower-level peculiarities of its tasking API.
