Parallel Computing

Applications for the "Ct technology" beta program are now open.

Today, at Intel's Developer Forum, we kicked off the application process for our upcoming beta of a product using "Ct technology."  The beta is not yet ready, but we may favor those who apply early to join our program.  (Hint, Hint)

More information about "Ct technology" and the ability to apply for the beta program is at

Visual Studio 2008 SP1 - Code Coverage Settings Window Closes Unexpectedly

I discovered an issue with Visual Studio 2008 SP1 today that it appears to be related to the fact that the solution contains a Silverlight 3.0 project.

When you add unit test projects to Visual Studio 2008 SP1 a default test run configuration file is added to the solution within the Solution Items solution folder. I have highlighted the test run configuration file within the following image of the solution explorer.

n-bodies: a parallel TBB solution: computing accelerations? or forces?

When considering the parallelization of some piece of code, my first concern is to be sure that the code I start with is optimized for serial execution. It does me little good to write a parallel version that just sops up the latency holes that inefficient code makes available. It may seem to scale well, but some future compiler may come along that does a better job of optimizing that inefficient kernel and suddenly the performance scaling might disappear.
