Additional media and speech codecs optimization for Intel® Atom™ processors in IPP 7.1

Intel IPP 7.1 includes some additional optimization for several Intel IPP UMC and USC components, including AAC encoder and decoder, AC3 decoder, MP3 encoder and decoder, GSM-AMR encoder and decoder, AMR Wideband encoder and decoder, VC1 encoder, and MPEG2 encoder.

Note, Intel IPP provides the optimization functions for Intel Atom processors. The entire IPP functions are compiler-optimized for the Intel Atom processor, and many Intel IPP functions are hand-optimized for even better performance. Additionally, in the IPP 7.1, some UMC and USC components(AAC, AC3,MP3, GSM-AMR, AMR WB,VC1, MPEG2,etc )include optimization on the high level implementation, such as, adjustment on memory buffers for the Intel Atom processor cache sizes, proper alignment of the data buffers, reducing memory usage, and reducing internal memory allocations. These high level optimization provides additional 5% to 30% improvement for deferent components.
