Composer XE for Mac OS X error #10001: could not find directory in which g++ resides


Problem : Mac OS X ONLY (this does not appy to this same error on Linux)
error #10001: could not find directory in which g++ resides


Environment : Mac OS X with Xcode 4.x


Root Cause : Xcode does not install command line tools by default.


Resolution : Install the command line tools for Xcode (non-default)

Open Xcode
Go to the Xcode Menu, open 'Preferences'
on the Preferences window, go to the Downloads tab
On the Downloads tab, find "Command Line tools" in the list of downloads and click 'install' to the right

this installs g++ and other tools into default directories such as /usr/bin
