Intel® Cluster Checker version 1.8 New Features and Enhancements

Intel® Cluster Checker version 1.8 provides many new and improved features (see the product documentation for more details).

General Description

The goal of this version is to include support for second generation Intel® Core™ (Sandy Bridge) processors. All the packaged High Performance Computing benchmarks were rebuilt using latest releases of the Intel® Cluster Tools.

Towards better usability of the tool, the full reference documentation was revised to clearly depict the intended functionality and the required configuration. The list of test modules was streamlined by generalizing and merging similar checks as well.

Benchmarks Update

Prepackaged benchmarks were updated to apply advanced optimizations and to leverage new platform support offered by the latest Intel Cluster tools releases, namely Intel MPI Library 4.0.1, Intel Fortran/C++ Compiler 12.0 and Intel Math Kernel Library 10.3.

Simplified Test Module List

The Ethernet-related test modules (i.e.: e1000, e1000e and igb) were merged into a new one named intel_ethernet_driver. The rpm test module was removed and its functionality integrated into the packages test module.

Revised Test Module Documentation

The Intel Cluster Checker Test Modules Reference Guide was expanded with detailed information for all test modules. This updated information is also made available through the system's manual pages.

Besides the previous list of enhancement, the tool includes multiple fixes and small improvements that can be reviewed inside the Release Notes document.
