Meet the 2013 Level Up winners at GDC!

We are very excited to have winners from the 2013 Intel® Level Up Game Developer Contest showing off their games in the Intel booth at the Game Developers Contest. GDC is the launch event for this year contest, so swing by the booth to find out more!



Bio: Doppler Interactive; super-small, super-surreal game development duo. Composed of Jessica Ellis - artist, and Joshua McGrath - wildcard, and tenuously hailing from Los Angeles, California - we make games that are ambiguous metaphors for life.

Description: Cube & Star: An Arbitrary Love is a game about the joy of aimless but mindful exploration. Spread color and life through a greyscale world, thrill to the emergence of new and bizarre creatures - and learn that you are only a tiny cog in a larger machine that has no regard for your feelings or aspirations.




Bio: "Witch Beam is an independent games team in Brisbane, Australia. We want to build the kinds of games we want to play and are committed to creating polished arcade style experiences."

Description: "Assault Android Cactus is a twin stick shoot 'em up with an emphasis on high pressure and stylish action. Expect screens full of enemies, buckets of bullets and high scoring combo chains!"




Bio: Dumb and Fat games is the shady front for Philadelphian game designer Greg Lobanov. He was born in 1992 and he started making computer games with Game Maker in 2005. He hasn't stopped yet.

Perfection is a simple, soothing puzzle game about cutting shapes to fit into outlines. There is an infinite number of puzzles, each randomly generated to be unique and interesting.




Bio: BetaDwarf, 3 years, 14 people company in Denmark.

Description: Forced is a one- to four-player co-op arcade action RPG with puzzle and tactical elements. You are cast as slaves in the toughest fantasy gladiator school of them all, condemned to fight to the death, all the while attempting to win your freedom.




Bio: Chainsawesome Games is a small team of three developers located in Québec, Canada. Using their Chainsaw wielding skills, they created BeatBlasters III, a rhythm/action game hybrid that was released on Steam. They are always looking for new ways to challenge their players.

Description: BeatBlasters III is a rhythm, puzzle and action game all wrapped into one. Play as Joey or Gina and defeat the tyrannical Butcher prohibiting music in Accapella City. Use their powers to help the denizens of the land on their adventure back to the city.




Bio: Team Primordia is a group of graduate students from Carnegie Mellon University. The demo currently on steam was made as a class assignment in 3 weeks. The full platformer game is currently under development.

Description: Protocell is a celestial platformer that follows players on their quest across the universe to collect the compounds Hydrogen, Methane, Water, and Ammonia, to create life on Earth. The space travelers possess the power to rotate their environment at will, while simultaneously creating their own platforms to traverse the twisted, mysterious depths of space.
