Android* on Intel® Architecture Makes a Big Impression at Mobile World Congress 2012

What do little green robots and Barcelona have in common? Why Mobile World Congress of course. Android on Intel architecture made quite a splash at the 2012 edition of MWC. The tone was set early by Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini who announced strategic new engagements with Orange*, Lava International Ltd.*, ZTE*, and Visa*. Apps for Android on Intel® Atom™ processor based devices were the buzz of Barcelona as well.

The Intel Software and Services Group hosted a number of events for mobile developers who are interested in developing and optimizing apps for Android on Intel architecture. Developers had the exclusive opportunity to view the first public presentation of the Graphics Performance Analyzer for Android, see featured partner apps running on Intel reference design smartphones and tablets, and learn more about the Android community on the Intel® Developer Zone and the Android initiative for Intel® Software Partners. All conference attendees were treated to the antics of loveable Android characters that roamed the Fira conference center and they were offered transportation on double-decker tour buses branded with Intel® Inside Android characters.

In summary, congress attendees went home understanding that Android on Intel architecture devices are arriving quickly, most of the popular apps titles are available for the platform, and Intel offers great developer programs, tools and expertise to support optimizing apps for Android on Intel architecture.
