Performance degradation of some Basic Random Number Generators on the latest Intel® Architectures.

Problem Description :

Some of VSL Basic Random Number Generators including the following :

  • Sobol quasi-random number generator,
  • Niederreiter quasi-random number generator,
  • SIMD-oriented Fast Mersenne Twister pseudorandom number generator and
  • Mersenne Twister pseudorandom number generator MT19937
show significant performance degradation ( sometimes up to 50% ) on the latest Intel Architectures with the Update 7 ( MKL 10.3. update 7) only. There are no workaround at the moment.
