Thanks, I replicated this. I will ask our webops team to take a look. FWIW, other browsers that I tried (even this version of chrome on mac) did not complain.

When I try downloading sde-external-6.12.0-2013-11-16-lin.tar.bz2 from this page with Chrome 31.0.1650.63, it says:
You attempted to reach secure-software.intel.com, but the server presented an invalid certificate.

Yeah, we replaced it with a tar.gz file on Friday afternoon and that one appears to be fine. Please try again. The issue with the file corruption is some sort of glitch in our web infrastructure. I'm trying to sort that out with the web team. Apologies!

The linux download sde-bdw-external-5.31.0-2012-11-01-lin.tar.bz2 seems to be corrupt. Tar complains about it being truncated.
