This page provides the current Release Notes for Intel® Software License Manager, which provides the floating license server software for all Intel licensed development tools. The notes are categorized by version, from newest to oldest.

When installing version 2.6 or higher of the Intel® Software License Manager, it may report that the license file provided is invalid. This can be caused by a mismatch in the hostname between the license file and OS. The license file hostname must contain the entire value returned by running the hostname OS command.
$ hostname myhost.mydomain.com $
The license file must contain myhost.domain.com. If it only has myhost, then it will fail the validation check in the installer.
As of version 2.5, the Intel® Software License Manager download package for Windows* uses an installer similar to Intel software development tools. This is a change from older versions. If you already have a pre-2.5 version of the license manager installed and running on your server, follow the steps below to upgrade to version 2.5 or higher.
Note: Starting the license manager may change the port number used by the INTEL vendor daemon. Be sure to note the port number and exclude it from your firewall if necessary.
When trying to start the Intel® Software License Manager using the ilmconfig.exe or lmtools.exe utilities, you may experience a hang or see the following error:

As of version 2.5, the Intel® Software License Manager download package for Linux* uses an installer similar to Intel software development tools. This is a change from older versions which were simply extracted to a folder. If you already have a pre-2.5 version of the license manager installed and running on your server, follow the steps below to upgrade to version 2.5 or higher.
Note: If you have a pre-2018 serial number for Intel® VTune™ Amplifier as a standalone product with active support and you would like to download and install VTune Amplifier 2018 or later, the information below is relevant for you. This does not apply to Parallel Studio XE licenses, even if they include VTune Amplifier.
A new version of Intel® Software License Manger has been recently released. The new version is required for the successful installation of Intel® Software Development Products versions 2017 or 2018 that are using floating licenses.
