Optimizing Game Architectures with Task-Based Parallelism by Brad Worth
Webinar - May 14 3:00PM (central) brought to you by The Universal Parallel Computing Research Center (UPCRC Illinois)
Brad's talk will show how the threading approaches commonly used in games can be backed by a highly scalable task parallelism system. Task parallelism ensures that CPU resources are in maximum use, turning the locks and waits into prerequisites on unencumbered task processing. Examples will be shown on how Callbacks, Directed Acyclic Graphs, and Loop Parallelism cleanly map to tasks. The task implementations of Rendering and Long, Low-Priority Operations will be examined as fruitful areas for further research. Intel Threading Building Blocks will be demonstrated as a sample task parallelism scheduler, although the techniques are applicable to any task parallelism implementation. Register to attend today.

Sanjiv Shah discussed Intel Parallel Studio's Parallel Inspector
Intel® Parallel Inspector is the easiest multithreading error checking tool for Microsoft Visual Studio* C/C++ developers. Parallel Inspector detects challenging threading and memory errors and provides guidance to help ensure application reliability. Unlike other error checkers on the market, Parallel inspector is the fastest and most comprehensive method to pinpoint latent multithreading and memory errors.
Proactively find latent threading and memory errors to help ensure application reliability with Intel Parallel Inspector
- Quickly and accurately pinpoint typical memory errors, including leaks and corruptions
- Accurately pinpoint latent threading errors, including deadlocks and data races
- Intuitively guides developers to resolve issues that could not be found otherwise
- Helps ensure that shipped applications run error-free on customer systems

Sanjiv Shah's works on various aspects of software development tools at Intel and have been working in the area of parallel languages, runtimes, compilers and tools for 20+ years. He is very active in the OpenMP community and has been involved with the effort since the very begining. Lately his attention has been focused on managing the team that is developing modules for Intel Parallel Studio.
On the May 19th episode of Parallel Programming Talk we will have Gastón C. Hillar to talk about Parallel Programming with C# and .Net.
