If you are interested in cross-platform development, hopefully you've heard of the Intel® Integrated Native Development Experience (Intel® INDE) product -- it's a toolkit that helps C++/Java* developers quickly and easily create, compile, debug, analyze, and ship apps on the Windows* and Android* platforms. Intel INDE is targeting application developers looking to develop for multiple platforms -- we're seeing numerous customers who have developed Windows* apps and now want to get started with Android*.
This blog was originally published for the Beta version of the product, but I've now updated it to cover the recent Intel INDE 2015 release (see this article).
The goal of this blog is to help you get the most out of using Intel INDE. So even if you haven't heard of Intel INDE, or you're a developer already familiar with other cross-platform toolkits, this article can help you figure out "where to go".
- Where should I go first for information about Intel INDE?
I would recommend that you start with the Intel INDE home page. Here you can find the most up-to-date information about the product, and check out the links to other key information. There's a wealth of info about getting started with the individual tools as well. And most importantly, from this page you can get information about the different "editions" of Intel INDE, and how to download and get licenses for the product.
- But I don't know whether I need/want Intel INDE!
I have two recommendations for you. Start with the Intel INDE FAQ, where we answer some basic questions like "What is Intel INDE". From the FAQ you can also get cost and licensing information, and we list the minimum system requirements of your target and host platforms (such as OS, physical memory, and so on). There's not much technical detail in the FAQ, so if you need specific product information check out the Intel INDE Product Brief. This document includes a paragraph or two on each of the available tools -- after reading this you should have a pretty good idea whether Intel INDE is a product that can help solve your cross-platform development needs.
- In short, What are the features available in INDE?
If you wondering what are the components you, as a developer, can use. You can check out this blog. This should also answer your question on whether you need/want Intel INDE.
- Wow! Intel INDE is what I want, so how do I download and install it?
OK, the short answer is to get it from the Intel INDE home page, but you'll need an Intel® Developer Zone (IDZ) account first (if you already have one, you'll need to login to your IDZ account first). For information about technical system requirements (such as memory, disk space, and target/host platforms), check out the Intel INDE Release Notes.
- OK, I've downloaded and installed Intel INDE, but I need some help.
Check out the Intel INDE Getting Started Guide, the Intel INDE Main Support Page or the Intel INDE support forum. The support forum is monitored by Intel personnel (such as myself), and we look forward to also hearing about whether the product has been useful for you, including any suggestions you have for making the product better. If you've purchased the Premium or Ultimate versions of the product, you also have access to Intel Premier Support for questions and issues regarding the product.
