The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is one of the industry’s go-to events for showcasing innovation, and this year’s show did not disappoint. Intel showcased innovations to power smart and connected devices from edge to cloud, driving tremendous opportunities for software developers.
Announcements from Intel spanned PCs, servers and new devices in diverse growth segments including artificial intelligence (AI), 5G and autonomous driving (AD). Intel leaders discussed the innovation necessary across the data center, cloud, network and the edge to enable new form factors and user experiences. These Intel innovations include the latest Intel® Xeon® Scalable products shipping today with advanced AI and memory capabilities, and 9th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop products. New 10nm products for PCs, servers and 5G wireless access base stations, and the future of new chip designs based on 3D packaging technology (Foveros) also were announced.
Intel announced several new processors and systems on a chip (SoCs) at CES for client, network, cloud and the edge.
Customers & Partners Make the Impossible Possible
Throughout the conference, customers and ecosystem partners showcased amazing experiences enabled by Intel® technology in 5G, automated driving, AI, digital content creation, VR, voice, game development and more.
Transform mass media with 5G wireless networking
Seeing growing consumer demand for immersive sports media experiences, Fox Sports and Intel explored how 5G wireless technologies enable broadcasts of high-resolution video from anywhere. Fox Sports showcased how they will transform the way media is produced, distributed, consumed and monetized.
Highlighting the opportunities 5G creates across sports, media, and gaming, Intel and the National Hockey League (NHL) showcased how 5G networks with edge-computing capabilities can deliver breakaway wins for fans.
Innovations like these are made possible in part by Intel’s open source contributions to Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Imagine the new solutions you can develop with the combination of ultra-high bandwidth and 4K resolution.
Drive safety & new passenger experiences in autonomous vehicles
Led by Intel's Jack Wiest, a panel of experts discussed safety for autonomous vehicles (AVs) and the Responsibility-Sensitive Safety model (RSS) developed by Intel/Mobileye. Mobility-as-a-Service developers can start using the specification today.
In a demo showcase, Warner Bros.* and Intel imagined possibilities inside AVs where riders can enjoy immersive entertainment experiences never seen before. Discover how you can build high-performance, power-efficient designs for in-vehicle and cloud-based data center platforms with the Intel® Automated Driving SDK.
Intel and Warner Bros. demonstrated entertainment’s future in autonomous vehicles through a virtual ride where passengers are transported to Gotham City.
