Technology innovation drives business growth for Intel and the millions of software developers with whom we partner. At the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Intel and several leading ecosystem partners showcased technologies and solutions using new chip designs based on 3D packaging technology (Foveros), the latest Intel® Xeon® Scalable products with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and memory capabilities, 9th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop products, 5G wireless networks, and more. With these new innovations you can leverage smart connected technologies to deliver amazing consumer experiences, transform business productivity, and improve people’s lives.
Intel announced and demonstrated several new processors and systems on a chip (SoCs) at CES for client, network, cloud and the edge.
Customers & Partners Make the Impossible Possible
Announcements from Intel spanned PCs, servers and new devices in diverse growth segments. Customers and ecosystem partners showcased amazing experiences enabled by these Intel innovations:
1. Transform mass media with 5G wireless networking
Seeing growing consumer demand for immersive sports media experiences, Fox Sports and Intel explored how 5G wireless technologies enable broadcasts of high-resolution video from anywhere. Fox Sports showcased a transformation in the way media is produced, distributed, consumed and monetized.
Highlighting the opportunities 5G creates across sports, media, and gaming, Intel and the National Hockey League (NHL) showcased how 5G networks with edge-computing capabilities can deliver breakaway wins for fans.
Innovations like these are made possible in part by Intel’s open source contributions to Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Imagine the new solutions you can develop with the combination of ultra-high bandwidth and 4K resolution.
2. Drive safety & new passenger experiences in autonomous vehicles
Led by Intel's Jack Wiest, a panel of experts discussed safety for autonomous vehicles (AVs) and the Responsibility-Sensitive Safety model (RSS) developed by Intel/Mobileye. Mobility-as-a-Service developers are using the specification today.
In a demo showcase, Warner Bros.* and Intel imagined possibilities inside AVs where riders can enjoy immersive entertainment experiences never seen before. Discover how you can build high-performance, power-efficient designs for in-vehicle and cloud-based data center platforms with the Intel® Automated Driving SDK.
Intel and Warner Bros. demonstrated entertainment’s future in autonomous vehicles through a virtual ride where passengers are transported to Gotham City.
3. Improve people’s lives with AI solutions
HOOBOX Robotics leverages AI and computer vision technology such as the Intel® Distribution for the OpenVINO™ toolkit to assist wheelchair users who have lost partial or full control of their hands.
At the Intel booth, CES attendees discovered the Intel® AI powered wheelchair that is controlled by a user’s facial expressions.
4. Create the most advanced 3D content with the latest PCs
Top studios around the globe leverage Ziva simulations to create the most advanced characters for movies and interactive games. CES attendees saw how Ziva technology impacts every step of the artistic process by offering greater control, speed, and functionality to 3D character creators.
5. Bring VR to media experiences
Intel-based systems and technology help film makers take advantage of VR and volumetric data. Intel technologists and Paramount Studios creative visionaries showcased a first of its kind Grease Immersive Cinema Experience for movie goers, and Intel’s Ravi Velhal led a panel of industry experts discussing “Digital Hollywood and Immersive Media.” In the comments section below, tell us your plans to bring VR to your users’ media experiences.
6. Create amazing content on mobile PCs
Content creators like YouTube* Influencer Sara Dietschy need powerful, responsive devices that perform on the go for hours at a time. Sara shared why she relies on Intel-based devices to create her content. Tell us about your amazing content running on the latest mobile PCs.
7. Differentiate your applications with voice
Voice is the next PC disruptor, and it’s growing. Intel and its partners work together to evolve the voice experience on PCs and introduce new digital assistants to desktops and notebooks in 2019. Differentiate your next application with the incredible power of voice.
8. Maximize your game visuals
Game developers face the exciting challenge of creating more immersive and entertaining experiences for competitive gamers. CES attendees saw why developers turn to the Intel® Core™ X-Series CPUs to increase productivity on game engines like Unreal Engine* 4. Maximize your visuals with this combination of software and hardware technologies.
