Intel® Debug Extensions for WinDbg* for Intel® Processor Trace User and Reference Guide

Intel® Debug Extensions for WinDbg* are available as part of the following products:

  • Intel® System Studio
  • Intel® oneAPI IoT Toolkit (Beta)
  • Intel® System Bring-up Toolkit (Beta)

The following are some important features of the Intel® Debug Extensions for WinDbg* for Intel® Processor Trace (Intel® PT):

Getting Started

To learn how to start the debugger see Loading the Intel® Debug Extensions for WinDbg* for Intel® Processor Trace.

Source Level Trace Visualizing

The extension allows for easy setup of Intel® PT by abstracting hardware configuration and then reconstructing and displaying execution flow from the collected trace data. It integrates with other WinDbg* features like symbolization and high-level source display.

Execution Trace for Connections Established with Kernel Debug

Execution trace support includes Intel® PT for identifying incorrect execution paths or memory accesses using Kernel Debug (USB, Firewire, or serial cable).

Execution Trace for Connections Established with JTAG

Execution trace support includes Intel® PT for identifying incorrect execution paths or memory accesses using WinDbg* over Intel® DCI extension, that is using the JTAG connection.
