Failure Reason: ILU03 - Application launch

Our application has just failed submission due to the error above. We checked that our app didn't do fall down on any of the common errors (including the asset linking error when not run in installation directory). The only thing I can think of is that our apps minimum screen resolution is 1024x768 and if the application was tested on a web book with a smaller native resolution then the app would just quit (I think...). We did tell the sales guy who phoned us up that this was the case but he said it wasn't a problem. Would the submission fail because of this? If not then I am completely stumped because we can run it fine here. Thanks, Andy

Hello Andy,

there are some standard points to check:

1) Have you made the Beta Test of your application as described here: http://appdeveloper.intel.com/en-us/article/beta-testing

2) Have you replied to the validator and asked him direcly ?

3) As you said the reason might be that currently we test a resolution of 1024x600 and your application is supposed to adapt itself to any given netbook resolution automatically. It would also be helpful if you could post the name of your app and also the full uncut message you received from the validator.

Best Regards,

Hi Andre,

1) We did not make a Beta test for our app. We have already run our app through an external Beta testing source but if you suggest that we should also run it through the Intel beta testing then we shall do that.

2) Yes, we have also replied to the validator.

Failure Reason: ILU03 - Application launch

Additional Comments: Windows XP and Windows 7 errors on launch. message: For troubleshooting install and launch errors, please see the following article to make sure your msi package and path to resources are set up correctly: http://appdeveloper.intel.com/en-us/article/troubleshooting-validation-f.... If you are having problems with the SDK, see this article: http://appdeveloper.intel.com/en-us/blog/2009/12/23/five-things-you-shou.... Also you can now beta test your application prior to submission by following the beta instructions here: http://appdeveloper.intel.com/en-us/article/beta-testing. this allows you to test your app using your GUID within the store prior to submission. Thank you!

Check the failure code against the Intel(R) Application/Component Suitability Guidelines
and Validation Criteria document. This document lists the error codes and the associated
tests that were run on your application. Additional comments provided may help narrow
down the specific failure(s).

Once you revise your code please resubmit it for validation.

Hi Andy,

I recommend that you run the Beta Test as described in the link (and in the Email from the Validation Team), fix any issues, resubmit. Also make sure your application works fine with 1024x600.

Andy,

If your application does not support all resolutions listed in section 4.4 (Application User Interface/Experience Criteria – UIX) of the Validation Guidelines it will fail validation.

If your application has logic to exit if one of the necessary resolutions is detected then it makes sense why your app would fail the application start-up validation tests.

One could go so far as to integrate QRes (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/qres.html) into their testing process. Best of luck.
