How are submissions validated?

Hi everyone, If you've entered the contest, you might be wondering how we are going to validate your entries. I thought I would post some helpful hints of things to look for when submitting your application to the "100 Netbooks for 100 Apps" portion of our challenge. :) Details about our application validation process can be found at: Some of the most common pitfalls to watch out for that would cause a validation failure: - Improper use of trademarks - Code that triggers pop-ups - Code contains malware - The application must install & operate, and then uninstall without causing harm to the system Let us know if you have any questions! -Gina

Thanks for giving us ;;

We get the idea about how can we submit any component and how your team is going to check and test them...

Hi Gina,

I check the components available on developer catalog and its very few and don't find anything suitable to me.

If I use other component like some third party so will my app be validated, if not how do I over come this.

Hi Khan,

Yes, in that instance your app would go through the same validation process that any other application would go through.

Hi Gina,

Will you be doing application code walk through while validation ?

We will not have access to the source. We will validate the binary. You can read all about what we’re looking for here:

If I use yum to install something or have a dependency should it also be removed during the uninstall?

Per the validation guidelines, everything you install should be cleanly removed.

Expected Results:

* Application should un-install without any errors.
* Icon in the appropriate category should be removed within the un-install process.
* Check for garbage files left behind by uninstall using resource utility.
