Description: An overview of 64-bit Intel processor architectures, software optimization will be presented. A series of unique aspects of the processors and the Intel software development tools will be discussed. These will include: An introduction to the processor architectures and roadmaps. Usage of the Intel compiler with particular emphasis placed on compilation options enhancing performance on Intel processors. Usage of the VTune Performance Analyzer in identifying performance critical code sections and optimization opportunities. Unique performance monitoring capabilities of the Itanium-based processors and interpretation of the data with the VTune Analyzer.
