Thanks for the ICC+STM release.
Will you be providing a static version of libitm.so in the future so that we can generate statically linked transactional executables?
We have no plans to do so. We want to keepthis experimental productas simple as possible.
Our experience from other products tells usthat it is difficult to support static runtimelibraries. You canget into a situation where you have multiple copies of thelibrary active at the same time which complicates the library significantly.
Sorry forthe inconvenience.
I'd also like to request a static version of the library. Even a single static build of the library, (without necessarily any promise of future support), would be greatly useful to us in testing the technology out in experimental kernel contexts where the Linux dynamic library mechanism isn't available.
Thanks for your hard work on this.
