Thread Profiler and Thread Checker products and new Parallel Studio

Thread Profiler and Thread Checker products and new Parallel Studio

I'm a bit confused how the Thread Profiler and Thread Checker products fit in with the new Parallel Studio. Are they folded into the new PS version?

And was there significant functionality overlap between Thread Profiler and Thread Checker and the previous version of PS?

Thanks

David

Hello,

Many of the features from Thread Profiler are available in Intel Parallel Amplifier and many of the features from Thread Checker are in Intel Parallel Inspector. There are, however, differences as well. For example, the Parallel Studio tools are only available on windows and are designed to be easier to learn and use. Thread Profiler and Checker are also available on Linux and have some additional capabilities. There are a couple of good articles that do an in-depth comparison of the products. They also include guidance to help users determine which tool best suits their needs:

Inspector vs. Thread Checker: http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intelr-parallel-inspector-comparison-with-intelr-thread-checker/

Amplifier vs. Thread Profiler: http://software.intel.com/sites/products/collateral/studio/Amplifier_VTune_Comparison.pdf

The Parallel Studio tools are not designed to be an apples-to-apples replacement for the other tools.

Please let me know if this helps, or if you have additional questions.

Thanks.
