profile multiple child processes

profile multiple child processes

We have an application (on linux) that forks multiple copies of a multi-threaded app we would like to monitor with Inspector.

I
was having problems with it not seeing known memory issues of these
child processes (yes, the child application config is defined) and saw
the following in the linux release notes:

If a child
application is selected for analysis, the Intel Inspector XE analyzes only the
first instance of that application, even if multiple instances of that
application occur.

Is this a limitation of the current Linux
build or is this just how the app works? In the future will multiple
copies be supported?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

I don't think that this is a limitation of Linux. However, I would be glad to hear some feedback from Intel Software Engineers.

Best regards,
Sergey

If a child application is selected for analysis, the
Intel Inspector XE analyzes only the firstinstance of that application, even if multiple instances
of that application occur.

This is a limitation documented in the release notes for Intel
Inspector XE 2011 Update 9 and Intel Inspector XE 2013 beta Update 2.
