Thank you for the new release! Downloading now and looking forward to check out the improvements.

Sounds exciting! Some questions --

1) Java App Development - Android support?

2) Has Intel arranged for an indie-friendly access to Havok Vision Engine?

3) What do you mean by Projection Support?

4) What are the bug fixes?

Camera was working and now driver is missing....

Don't forget to copy samples to data area outside %programfiles(86)%.

David

Oh and Camera Getting Started Guide link on main page is broken.

David

Also having posts queued for review is a pain as I can't edit posts to incorporate updates.

SDKdevGuide has a little on the camera but nothing helpful and not Windows 8.0 friendly.

David

Sounds exciting.I downloaded the new release where can i get the demo of the Havok Vision SDK(Should i download the Havok Vision SDK from the website?)?Is it there in the demo folder?.Anyways the new release is awesome..Thanks a lot.

Does the SDK support Android or Linux?

Can anyone point me at the driver for the Creative Gesture Camera?  As I said it was working before I installed R2.  I sent a PM to David Lu but no response as yet.

David

I have posts on two threads both asking questions that Intel staff can answer but neither have had responses. Are all Intel staff on holiday?

David

The SDK does not work on Linux or Android.  Was that the missing question?

Nope.  After I installed R2 the Camera is no longer working because the driver is missing.

I have asked if anyone can point me at the driver without success.

Over on Ultrabook™ and Windows* 8 I have also asked someone from Intel to either point someone at drivers or confirm it is ok for me to pass them on - again with no response.

David

Sorry, I just found you PM, Please provide details info. How did you find the driver is missing? There is no separate driver file for camera. All you need is to install our PerC SDK. Thanks.

Hi David,

I installed the SDK R2 and tried the samples that use the Gesture Camera and they didn't work.  I checked Device manager and the Camera is reported under Other devices as USB Camera with no installed driver.

The Camera I have is one I purchased last year and has been operational up until I installed R2.

Hi I update my perceptual sdk to new gold release 2 and now every app is broken (previous update all apps & demo where working flawlessly),even the sample app crashes with exception in some core lib,where as my apps report external exception that is same as prior. I tried uninstalling ,reinstalling etc but nothing had fixed this ,although on my ultarabook all app are wotking flawlessly as it has an old version of pcsdk.  Image attached of crash .Is their is any compatibility issue with old camera and new sdk . Please reply soon .

Hi David,

I just uninstalled and reinstalled R2 - still have the same issue.

Could this be a camera/R2 compatibility problem?

David

It look like the obselete functions in my code were creating the problem ,updated them and now all apps are again working.

But why sample apps are crashing .Are they too using old code and are not up to date ?

Praveen - did you make copies of the PerC SDK libraries on your system?  It sounds like you installed the latest SDK but were still linking the old libraries.

Can i download the Havok SDK?Is it free?

I downloaded the the gold version of Intel Perceptual SDK but i am unable to find out the Havok SDK sample path file for usage as discussed in the SDK Havok Tutorial PDF.I am trying to find the project file of Visual Studio 2010 as mentioned %VISION_SDK%\Source\Vision\Samples\Engine\CharacterAnimation\CharacterAnimationDX9_win32_vs2010.vcxproj .

Will i have to download the Havok SDK engine separately and then try this sample?Any suggestion will be helpful

Thanks

Hi David,

Re the loss of driver - could this be a compatibility issue?

David

I will investigate and be back to you soon.

Hi David,

I just tried installing PCSDK on a Win 7  Pro PC and I have the same problem that the driver is not found for the camera.

This suggests to me that there is either a compatibility issue between the camera and R2 or the camera has gone faulty.  As I said in an earlier post I purchased this camera last year when they were first released.

David

Hi David, Could you send me the log file so I can investigate your driver lost issue. The log file is in  %TEMP%/micl_tmp_<USERNAME>, you can use echo %TEMP% under command console to find the path. Thanks.

I went through the article PDF of the HAVOK SDK but i am unable to find the version for downloading in the try Havok link.Can i use other version to work with Intel SDK.Screenshot attached.

Just zip it and give me all. Thanks!

I have the same problem like daflipper, after installed the R2, the Creative Gesture Camera problem, mine doesn't start at all. All the demo application crash. But if I checked from device manager, the  Creative Gesture Camera driver is installed (not missing). I use windows 7 Ultimate x64. SP1.

YS, Could you send me the log file so I can investigate your driver lost issue. The log file is in  %TEMP%/micl_tmp_<USERNAME>, you can use echo %TEMP% under command console to find the path. Thanks.

Hi David,

Please check your inbox, I've already sent my log files. Thanks

Hi David,

Ditto,

David

@David Lu,

Any update?

David

@David Lu --- <nudge>!

David

@David Lu,

As I purchased the camera and if I connect another camera that works then either the camera died at the same time I installed R2 or the camera is incompatible with R2.

I posted the problem on 3rd July and despite nudges I am still none-the-wiser.

How do I get a response and how can I get a working camera?  Do you want me to send you a copy of the invoice for the camera I paid for that no longer works with R2?

David

And not only do I get no response on the issue but my posts are queued!

Absolutely 100% frustrating and not what I would expect of Intel.

Agree with DaFlippers,

@David Lu,

Please Respond!

David

David, sorry i did not notice your several latest posts cause it is in sticky. Please try latest R3 and see if you still have such issue. Please do send me the log files and let us find the root issue. Sorry for the delay! Thanks!

I've just seen the notice for the latest update to the SDK - (edit) I'm referring to R3, uninstalled the previous version & installed the new one fresh. Then copied the examples to a Document folder & launched the samples.

Thus far I've been able to get the face_recognition C++ sample to compile, as well as the C# face_tracking example, but neither of them are actually functional. The face_recognition example keeps on reporting 'Could not create Model', the C# example also does not show the face landmark indicators anymore. Launching the SDK2 version of the same examples yield the same results.

I haven't checked any others, but this is enough to prevent me from being able to use this version of the SDK.

I was also REALLY hoping for some examples of what should be pretty straight-forward, such as:

1. Include C# version of C++ face_recognition sample - why isn't there one? I've been trying to replicate the same sample in C#, but no luck thus far.

2. Include examples of saving current face out to an image file (jpg/png/whatever) for both C# and C++, I know there are so-called examples of how to do this, but I haven't been able to get them to actually work. Just give an example of how to do this using the existing face_recognition and C# face_tracking/recognition examples - pretty please.

If there's anyone that can help, I'd really appreciate it! This is such amazing technology & kudos to Intel for doing this, but I've got other projects I'm also working on & some examples that actually make sense in a production environment would be great.

I'm Windows 8 on an Ultrabook, running VS2010 & VS2012, both express.

(edit) I posted this in the R2 thread since I couldn't add a comment to the R3 thread, it didn't allow new messages to be posted.

Okay, rant over ;-)

Hi, simsam7!

To save image from cam, you can use this code to get a bitmap.

[C#]

  public override void OnImage(PXCMImage image)
        {

            PXCMImage.ImageData imgData;
            if (image.AcquireAccess(PXCMImage.Access.ACCESS_READ, PXCMImage.ColorFormat.COLOR_FORMAT_RGB32, out imgData) == pxcmStatus.PXCM_STATUS_NO_ERROR)
            {
                PXCMImage.ImageInfo imageInfo = image.imageInfo;
                SavePicture(imgData.ToBitmap(imageInfo.width, imageInfo.height));
                image.ReleaseAccess(ref imgData);
            }
        }

public void SavePicture(Bitmap bitmap){

//TODO here the code to save

}

[/C#]

I hope this helps!

Thanks Marcelo, only saw your post now, much appreciated!

I now have replacement camera and all working with PCSDK R3
