'Reservation to device lost' - BarcodeDemoNet example project

Hi,

I've just recently started looking at the MCA SDK so if this is a stupid question with an obvious answer let me apologize in advance.

I've deployed the BarcodeDemoNet sample project (the one that gets installed with the SDK) to my tablet. When I try to scan a barcode I get the following error message : Reservation to device lost. (Unable to get last error)

Can anyone suggest what might be happening to cause this error?

Thanks very much.

Hi dlarkin77,

A couple of questions for you:

1. Which tablet are you using?

2. Did you install the MCA SDK onto you tablet, or did you manually copy the sample project to your tablet?

3. Can you send me the MCA log file (c: empmca.log by default) showing the error occurring?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm using the Motion C5
I installed the MCA SDK on my development machine only
I manually copied the compiled EXE to the tablet

This is the content of the log file:

Thanks very much,

Hi David,

It looks like one of a couple of things have happened. Either the MCA SDK was installed on the tablet overriding the MCA PD (platform driver), or there are MCA PD files/driver missing, or MCA SDK software components were copied on to the tablet that are a different version than the MCA PD software that is installed on the C5. The quickest way to solve this is to do the following:

1. On the C5, go into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and remove any Intel MCA software installed on the system.

2. After the Intel MCA software is removed. reboot the C5.

3. Go to the Motion Computing web site at the URL below and download the v1.11.2 of the Intel MCA PD software. Motion Computing calls it the "Medical Clinical Assistant Software".

http://www.motioncomputing.com/support/driver_download_c5.asp

4. Install the MCA PD software onto the C5.

5. Once the MCA software is installed, reboot the C5 and verify the MCA software is now working.

6. Next, verify that the MCA SDK software you have is v1.11. If not, you can download this version from the Intel web site at this URL:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strOSs=All&strTypes=All&ProductID=2854&lang=eng&OSFullName=All%20Operating%20Systems

7. Install the MCA SDK v1.11 on your development system (do not install it on the Motion C5).

8. Manually copy any demo programs you would like to use from the development system with the MCA SDK installed on it to the Motion C5 tablet.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Installing the version of the MCA PD that you linked to sorted this issue out for me.

Thanks for your help,

David
