Havok and COLLADA

Havok and COLLADA

Hi,

First of all, congratulations to the Havok team on the release of the free-of-charge version of Havok Physics and Animation - well done!

I am just wondering if there are any plans to support the COLLADA physics and animation formats as a pipeline export filter in the near future?

Hi Chris,

There aren't any plans to support COLLADA at the moment. However, if you already have tools that are exporting COLLADA info, it should be possible (albeit a bit tedious) to write a COLLADA -> HKX converter that you could load up into Havok.

Congrats on the Havok release, fun to have a public channel to chat about the Havok SDK and its great authoring tools!

In order for us to benefit from those tools, we will make some effort to create a HKX -> COLLADA .dae converter, you can vote for your support here.

Thanks,

Erwin

Thanks for the replies. Ideally we would like to have Havok filters that export rendering info, physics and animation data in COLLADA format for maximum interoperability. We could then support loading COLLADA files as a baseline and also support loading .hkx files for maximum physics and animation performance when needed. Now that Havok is available free of charge I'm hoping the community will develop these filters before too long (cheers Erwin!).

Here is a very first attempt of a few hours work, it converts a HKX file to COLLADA Physics .dae
