Thats what I already did. I can choose moren resolution, but not the one i want to. 1920x1200 (16:10, but too high res) and 1280x800 (16:10, low) are available, but 1680x1050 is missing:(

Can you get the EDID information out of the display using MonInfo? I can see how to probably get you 1680x1050, but it's damned complicated. Not having the right EDID parameters would make it nightmarish.

Hi guys, I have the same problem :( I would like to buy new LCD but resolution 1680x1050 is missing in configuration, I hope you can help us. Thanks REALLY a lot !!!

Here are my EDID info.:

(it's from MonInfo with a internal monitor /i don't know if there is any difference)

I tried to do that myself (http://softwarecommunity.intel.com/Wiki/Graphics/239.htm) but I don't have this "HKR,, TotalDTDCount, %REG_DWORD%, 0" in the .inf file. (I've got laptop DELL Inspiron 700m - it has 855GM chipset).

Actually, we need the EDID from the monitor in question, not from the "internal monitor". That one's 1280x800, which I don't think is what we're looking for.

The 855 appears to have a different structure for which registry entries to modify, so the "TotalDTDs" won't work.

Ok, I'm sorry.Here it is:

I've got also "newest" drivers which Dell offer - DriverVer=07/19/2005,6.14.10.4363 - and I can't install the newer from Intel. (and the .inf file is ialmnt5.inf and it is the only .inf file there)

Yeah, that appears to be the information for your laptop display. Not gonna help.

It's a Dell? :( They tend to have their own custom version of the drivers, and it's not as easy to modify them.

Oh no :( I've still hoped there is some chance :( But thank you anyway

Don't you know where I can ask some better informed people? I don't believe I'm the first one who want figure out this problem. Thanks

The entechtaiwan link I posted above should work. The folks there have solved this problem for themselves.
