External monitor problem intel GMA950

Hi,

I've an MSI 262 megabook with Intel GMA950 express chipset. When I connect my laptop to an external LG 782LE (native res: 1280X1024) the system allows me to set up max 1280x800 (which is the max of my laptop display). How can i set up the max resolution of the external lcd?

I've run the Moninfo but I got info only my laptop display:

Are you connecting the monitor through a docking station or direct to the laptop? Sometimes connecting directly to the laptop will result in MonInfo working better. I'll look around for some generic 1280x1024 DTDs for you. Surprised those don't show up when "Hide All Modes" is unchecked, though...

Thanks for the fast response!
The monitor is connected directly to the laptop. But something is very strange for me, when I am using only the laptop's screen I can setup almost all resolutions but when only the external monitor is active the resolution set is limited and the 1280x1024 is not on the list.

I'd try generic 1280x1024:

8C 23 00A0 50 001E 40 30 20 27 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E

Use the Wiki to set this up (don't forget to comma delimit and add ",37,01" to the end), reboot, and you should get this resolution as an option. If not, check whether all the registry "DTD_1" values are being populated withthat hex string I gave and whether "TotalDTDs" (or whatever thevariable name is)is>0.If the registry is okay and you're still not getting it to show up, it might be the VideoBIOS prohibiting it; try 1278x1024:

8C 23FEA2 40 001E 40 30 20 27 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
