Vtune not able to identify processor type

Vtune not able to identify processor type


Hi, Vtune when trying to find the hotspots is not able to identify the processor type. Althought its a MAC OS with i5 installed. Can anyone post a solution for the issue?

Me too. When I run Intel VTune Amplifier 2019 from Visual Studio 2019 as Administrator. Hotspot Analysis shows

  • This analysis type is not applicable to the system because VTune Amplifier cannot recognize the processor. If this is a new Intel processor, please check for an updated version of VTune Amplifier. If this is an unreleased Intel processor, please contact Online Service Center for an NDA product package.
  • This analysis type is not applicable to the current machine microarchitecture

In #4 above I said that I got this problem on a new PC but not on an old PC.  No longer true.

I still have access to the old machine with Fortran 2019 u4 and VTune Amplifier 2091 u4.  It now shows the same error.  Used to work in June/July 2019.

I tried using the VTune gui directly, in case Visual Studio was getting involved.  Same result.

This has been logged with Intel as Service Request#:04468999

EDIT:  Also tried the command line interface with same result.


I wonder if this is related.  When sep -version is directed to a file the last five lines are lost

This is Service Request#:04468999.

The old machine was definitely upgraded (and downgraded) multiple times as I chased a Fortran/VS issue.  It has a Haswell CPU.  It can't run vtune with hardware sampling when Hyper-V was enabled, so I didn't use vtune after July.
